Invest Ontario will contribute up to 15% in loans (typically interest-free) and grants towards proposed investments of $50 million+ in Ontario by domestic and foreign businesses. Along with the financial and management capabilities of the investor, funding awarded is calculated on the economic benefits to Ontario including the number and wage rates of resulting job creation, positive economic impact on other provincial organizations, investment in innovative and advanced manufacturing technologies, resulting export opportunities, reduction in greenhouse gases, and probability of incremental investment. Moreover, investments should fall into one of Ontario’s strategic sectors: advanced manufacturing (e.g., automotive, aerospace, chemicals), life sciences (e.g., pharmaceuticals, MedTech, food processing, mining, forestry, cleantech), and technology (e.g., fintech, cybersecurity, digital media, robotics).
Program support cannot be stacked with other provincial funding, but may be combined with a federal funding sources e.g., Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF).
